Tesla Model S: Front Drive Unit (From Above) (Remove and Install)

Note: If possible, use the
"From Below" procedure to remove and install the front drive unit
(refer to procedure).
Special tools required for this procedure:
Su
Position the support jack on top of the front
crossmember and secure the 2 screws to the front crossmember.
The support jack mounts to the bolt holes on top of the fron
Installation
Use alcohol wipes to clean the mating surfaces
between the RH motor mount and drive unit.
Ensure that the support jack is secured to the
front crossmember.

Removal
Fully open the driver's door.
Move the driver's seat rearward for access.
Remove the LH center console closeout extension (refer to
procedure)
Remove the screws (x2) that secure the footwell closing trim to
the dash (torque 2 Nm).
There are two general methods used to install child
safety seats:
Seat belt retained - these seats are secured using the
vehicle's seat belts. All passenger seating positions in
Model S support the use of seat belt retained child
safety seats.
LATCH retained - these seats attach to anchor
