Opening the Charge Port
The charge port is located on the left side of Model S,
behind a door that is part of the rear tail light assembly.
Park Model S to ensure that the charge cable easily
reaches the charge port.

If desired, use the touchscreen to change the charge
limit and the charging current (see Charge Settings).

Charging Status
Charging status displays on the instrument panel when the charge port door is
open.
Time remaining: The estimated time remaining to charge to your set
limit.

Warning: Only technicians who have been
trained in High Voltage Awareness are permitted to perform this
procedure. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulating
HV gloves with a minimum rating of class 00 (500V) must be worn any

Removal
Recover refrigerant from the vehicle (refer to procedure).
Remove the underhood storage unit (refer to procedure).
Remove the bolt that secures the high pressure pipe to the
compressor (torque 10 Nm).
