Tesla Model S: Light - License Plate (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the screws (x5) that secure the rear applique bracket to the tailgate.

  2. Remove the rear applique bracket.
  3. Release the license plate light from the liftgate opening.

  4. Disconnect the light connector and remove the license plate light.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal.

    Removal Remove the liftgate applique (refer to procedure). Remove the tailgate lower finisher (refer to procedure). Release the watershield for access to the fog/reverse lamp.

     Lamp - Side Repeater - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

    Removal Using a suitable tool carefully release fixing lugs (x2) securing side repeater to front fender. NOTE: Wheel arch liner removed for clarity. Caution:

     Lamp - Reflex - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)

    Removal Remove rear fascia assembly for access (refer to procedure) Release clips (x2) securing reflex lamp to rear fascia. Remove reflex lamp.

    Removal Remove the glove box assembly (refer to procedure). In the upper area behind the glove box, remove the 2 screws (torque 10 Nm) that secure the passenger airbag to the crossbar beam. Caution: The

     Sensor - Ambient Air Temperature - Compressor (Remove and Replace)

    Removal Remove underhood storage unit for access (refer to procedure) Position hoses aside for access. Remove screw securing compressor ambient air temperature sensor (torque 2.5 Nm). Disconnect sensor harness lead. Rotate harness connector and release from bracket.
