Tesla Model S: Subframe Assembly - Front (Remove and Replace)
Removal

Remove front subframe assembly for access
(refer to procedure)

Remove and discard the bolts (x2) securing
steering rack assembly to subframe (torque 175 Nm).
Caution: Replace all
Patchbolt(s).
Caution:
Ensure that the bolts are torqued in the correct sequence
during reinstallation.

Remove steering rack assembly from front
subframe.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal,
except for the following:
When reinstalling the bolts that secure the subframe to the
steering rack, follow this sequence:

Tighten the LH bolt to 30 Nm.

Tighten the RH bolt to 30 Nm.
-
Fully torque the LH bolt to 175 Nm.
-
Fully torque the RH bolt to 175 Nm.

Remove rear diffuser tray
(refer to procedure)
Remove screws (x2) securing rear skid plate to
subframe (torque 10 Nm).

Removal
Remove the front aero shield panel
(refer to procedure).
Remove and discard the inner bolts (x2) that
secure the skid bar to the front subframe (10 Nm).

mode on the touchscreen before raising and supporting the vehicle.
Removal
Position the vehicle in preparation for raising it, but keep the
vehicle at ground level at this time.
Peel back the bottom of the lift
While driving:
